I've just been on holiday taking animal photos in some pretty dark situations. I decided to try a tool to help with the inevitable loss of quality associated with high ISOs. After reading some reviews, I gave DxO Pure RAW 2 a try (it has a free 30 day trial). Game changer!
I can't see that there is a way to host photos on this forum software, but do check it out if you are interested in reducing noise and increasing sharpness π
Hehe ... seeing your post topic for a second, @arthurfowler,Β I thought we'd got some spam !
But high praise, indeed!
Images - you should be able to copy/paste the URL of any image from anywhere into this forum, and it will display the image (rather than the url).
There's also the Attach file option, below (although I've never tried it) ...

EDIT - I just re-enabled this for all registered members.
Testing ... 1 ... 2 ... ahh, it's currently max 1MB, it's not pretty (no lightbox), and to add more than 1 image I think you need to EDIT the post.
Β
test #3 ... OK, added some code - image attachments now show up in the post itself.
and clicking an image should now open a lightbox.
"You are not permitted to view this attachment"
After processing via DXO Pure RAW 2.Β
(I can't post the RAW itself as it is bigger than the 1 meg max allowed). Also can't see how to post multiple images in one post.
I had a quick go - took less than 10 mins in LR. That shot is actually perfect for using LR new features - subject mask, content-aware remove, etc. So I removed the strands and light spots, and added NR to the non-subject.
After exporting, I noticed there's an orange halo around froggie - would need more time to adjust for that, as I went a bit too heavy on the NR to show what can be done.
So was this shot in the wild ? If so, really cool!
