My Dad passed away a couple of weeks ago due to his original problem (kidney failure) with pneumonia and covid-19, both of which he caught at the hospital.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Sending my condolences to you and your family.

not sure if it's because I'm on a good or bad list, but I keep getting emails from NHS saying if I catch covid I qualify for the drugs to get over it better. I also still qualify for free tests.

So I suspect there must be still some out there causing grief.

We've recently had a COVID outbreak within the family.

My Mum (fully vaxed for her age) got it for the first time and was quite sick for 2 days, then weary for another 5. Weirdly, she's still testing positive 10 days on (you can still buy the kits), but is physically almost recovered (although sleeping for an unusually long 9+ hours each night).

My Mum seems to have passed it to a sister (& her hub) during a café lunch (the day before her 1st symptoms), and to a daughter-in-law (& hub) during 2 x 1-hour car journeys (during which time she started to feel ill). All 4 have had it before, are fully vaxed, and were quite ill (2 days off work kinda thing).

Unfortunately, I may have actually been the source of this myself, following my Interpol gig on the 9th July. I came down with sinus pain and congestion (needed Sinutab) several days later, but actually had a severe headache all day on the 19th July (the same day my Mum got her first symptoms). Then, the other 4 people all got symptoms after 2-3 days, so that suggests it's fast. So summat doesn't quite add up.

Interestingly, myself and 2 others in our household on 4 jabs only had mildish symptoms, if at all. So it seems like jab#4 is quite protective.

Anyone else with COVID these last few months?

Meanwhile ...

All clear on the Covid front here, although my nephew passed it on to my sister while she was going through chemo. Luckily she only had a few mild symptoms but did feel really tired. Still got long Covid here but since I gave up work a month ago the breathlessness and heart palpitations have definitely eased off and I’m feeling better.

It's doing the rounds again. We have 2 relatives currently with COVID (positive tests) and another 2 (unrelated to each other) that have symptoms. These are definitely unrelated to our household.

Unfortunately, my Mum went straight from COVID weariness to a chest infection, and is now on antibiotics. It's a terrible wracking cough that keeps her awake. We've tried all sorts of home remedies without success - honey/lemon, ginger/cinnamon, olbas/Vicks. But now, simply sipping hot water seems as good as anything.

Thanks, @boink

This is interesting... Basically, the current Covid wave was to be expected, and is nothing to worry about ...
