As a species, we are surely stuffed ... plastic bollocks!

Strangely ironic if the forces of capitalism have been reducing fertility of the wealthy countries ...

Sperm counts in men have been falling for decades, with chemical pollution such as pesticides implicated by many studies.

Microplastics have also recently been discovered in human blood, placentas and breast milk, indicating widespread contamination of people’s bodies.

The impact on health is as yet unknown but microplastics have been shown to cause damage to human cells in the laboratory.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/article/2024/may/20/microplastics-human-testicles-study-sperm-counts

The testes analysed were obtained from postmortems in 2016, from men aged 16-88 when they died ... so likely even worse in 2024 ... “The impact on the younger generation might be more concerning”

One thing with my heart operation, I needed to have [written] confirmation from a dentist that my teeth, gums, etc were fit for the operation. Any teeth that were on poor condition would have needed to be removed. Seems the bacteria in tooth / gum disease can travel to the heart and cause severe problems.
Luckily mine were all in good order.

hehe ...

shteve - you replied to boink who was replying to my post that shared the exact same article! 😁

Specifically, I was meaning boink's requirement for a letter from his dentist before having the heart op.
