Unsure if we've mentioned this, but ...
If you have an NVIDIA graphics card, install the STUDIO version of the driver (rather than the gaming version) and you get optimisation options for Lightroom (and other apps) to make better use of your GPU. Seems faster even when just browsing the library.
Also worthwhile - on a laptop, turn off battery-saver and use 'performance' power profile.
