1) When clicking on the 'Jump to last post' column, you now get the last poster's profile, instead of the last post.

2) Is there any way of reducing the number of times this forum asks yo to log in? On Safari it seems to be almost every day, and on Windows browsers it's far more frequent than any other site I've ever used.

Thanks for the feedback! @qpw3141 ?

2) I've not experienced this myself, but I will look into it. (I assume you're not using some sort of system tidy app, like ccleaner.) You certainly shouldn't be logging in every day, but I've not seen a setting/parameter that controls for this.
At a guess, I'd say I need to login once every 3-4 weeks. But I do use the same browser and device.

1) Yes, I noticed this - not the perfect UX!

[A] If you click the user avatar, it does take you to the first unread post >

^ Actually, that's the same as clicking on the thread title too.

[B] Clicking the user name takes you to their profile (NB: different URL) >

I think the main problem is, the column heading specifically states: Jump to Last Post, and the 2 different hyperlinks (above) are not obvious or intuitive at all - being the name + avatar, you'd expect them both to go to the same place - the user's profile.

The simplest fix would be for me to hide the misleading Jump to Last Post - and then people would instinctively click on the thread subject, which does take you to the latest post (perhaps unexpectedly).

2) Update

- I found one possible cause - a ref to http://... rather than https://...

- And I added hack that should extend WP logins to 1 year.

Let me know how you get on @qpw3141

Well, I just had to log in again (Opera, Edge, and Safari) - maybe the hack reset things.

I'll let you know how things are going in a few days.

{Edit time expired}

The thing with the thread name is that it is very slow. It quite quickly displays the first page (for some odd reason), then there is quite a delay before the last page appears and it jumps to the bottom. I've just tried clicking on the Avatar, and that works well.

Checked logins, and I just had to log in again (Opera, Edge, and Safari) - maybe the hack reset things. It was always Safari that was the worst, but it is bad on all sites. Ones that require a login every few months on Windows seem to need it every week or so on Safari. It must be misinterpreting a cookie.

I'll let you know how things are going in a few days.

Thread title - yes, I understand what you mean - there's a pause then a redirect.

I've logged a support ticket - hopefully we can have the thread title link jumping to the last post in the same way the user avatar does !

Seems to be working well, now.

I've not been asked to login since my last post.

Clicking the last poster's avatar is no trouble - if a little illogical!

Thanks for the login fix.

@qpw3141 .. whoops ... forgot to update you - I have applied a fix, so that clicking the thread title now takes you to the last post without that delaying and unnecessary redirect.

It seems that the latest reply is no longer at the bottom of the thread. If a reply is made to a post, then the reply appears under that post rather than at the end. This may be intentional. If so, I just need to change the way I look at the thread.

@arthurfowler ... yes, it's a bit weird - this is Forums 2.0 ! Whereby it's possible to reply to an individual post part-way down the thread, or just stick it at the end as normal.

I've not got used to it either, yet ...

As well as the fix, something else for the constant need to login (I just realised this on another site).

Check your bookmarks on all devices are in this format: https://d vdforums.co.uk/...

Specifically, with the https but without the www.
