As you have no doubt noticed, especially in the Wordle thread, none of the site emojis are displaying, and we just see '??'.

It's possibly after a planned outage/upgrade in the last 24hrs - maybe a server setting was updated, affecting the site database >

The database was set as utf8mb3 instead of utf8mb4

I've logged a ticket with the web host. Hopefully we can get them back !

Bugger ... I just checked the source code in the post above - all the ???? appear the same in the code, ie: the original emoji info is lost. Doesn't look good historically, but hopefully the fix will sort things going forward.

Hmmm, not good. If it's truncated all the 4 byte codes to 3 bytes in the DB, nothing will be useable from the upper codepages. At least it looks like the LGBT+ flag is ok.
