Unfortunately someone hit our 2011 Qashqai n-tec and (pending a private quote today) it's looking likely that the insurance is writing it off as a no fault Category S
Bought it 8 or so years ago when we had our first child with an intention to keep it til it died but now I'm left in a position where I have some money from it, but not enough to replace like for like
So long story short, I am looking to spend tops £12k, ideally a little less, for a family car - the must have list is small but essential
- ULEZ compliant
- big a boot as possible (ideally SUV rather than estate)
- roof bars (we camp so use the roof)
- cruise control
- parking sensors (ideally all round but rear only would do)
I bought the Qashqai at the time for the longevity and fuel consumption and I'd really like to replace with something similar - we only do around 3000 miles a year so low upkeep essential
Thank you
Something like a Ford Kuga? Not a car expert by any means but I think that'd tick your boxes.
Used 2017 SILVER Ford Kuga 2.0 TDCi Titanium 5dr 2WD, 55,299 miles - cinch
Used 2018 GREY Ford Kuga 1.5 EcoBoost 120 Zetec 5dr 2WD, 33,128 miles - cinch
or how about a Qashqai? 😉
Used 2018 GREY Nissan Qashqai 1.2 DiG-T N-Connecta 5dr, 28,692 miles - cinch
What do you have against estates - you'll get a lot more "car" for your money with an estate and less hate
gives some interesting options - volvo's, skoda superb, or one of these odd things

You're not far off the price of a second hand Kia eNiro EV. I had one as a lease car for 3 years and it was great. They come with 7 years warranty so most have 3 or 4 years left. If you can, get the 64kWh 4+ model as it will do 200 miles on a full charge no worries.
Fwiw I ended up getting a 23 plate MG ZS (petrol automatic)
Pretty happy with it so far
