How is shopping these days ? Loads of noise about food shortages, and photos of bare shelves going viral on social media.

Even 20 years ago, if you went down the Asda on a Saturday evening there would be plenty of empty sections in the produce aisle (local to me, anyway).

So is it just salad items - tomato, cucumber, lettuce - that are currently hard to get ? Or is it affecting your general shop?

Apparently, any disruption is down to poor weather conditions in Spain and N.Africa, where much of the UK's salad veggies come from at this time of year. Or is that an excuse by the media, who still refuse to blame Brexit for anything ? ?

Pretty sure there's an element of both. There are shortages due to the weather, but it'll be easier/ cheaper to distribute what they have to countries in the EU. On a related note, was in Asda yesterday afternoon and a guy bought 1 cucumber and 15 lettuces without being challenged on the maximum 3 items limit. And then got into a Just Eat branded car. Tempted to tweet them and point out that that's not a very good image for them.

Just been to Tesco, and all the F&V shelves seemed well stocked.

Took my mum shopping on Saturday in the local Morrisons and although there wasn't much of a Tomato selection, there were some. Apart from that nothing else seemed low in stock. The biggest shock was how much Morrisons charge for stuff compared to Aldi, but that's small town shopping where there's only one supermarket.

Yes, Lidl are not much cheaper than Tesco when each are equally reachable, in London.

A lot of stuff in supermarkets seems to come and go and maybe they are stocking less e.g. less brands of butter and it seems instead for 5 or 10 packs deep might be a few and there does seem to be more spaces as you wander round, might be veg or dairy or eggs or... there is always stuff but does feel different.

There are even big gaps in Costco some weeks so....
