I got a text yesterday from a former work/co-op gaming colleague, raving about PS VR2. That's Playstation Virtual Reality, mark 2. I had to tell him I hadn't heard of it, and I didn't lie.

I've been completely out of the Sony loop since the launch of the PS5. After years spent being deafened by the PS3 and PS4 jet engines I decided to go back to the other camp and got an Xbox Series X (which is silent, no worries there). This has been mostly unplayed, unfortunately, to the degree that I wish I hadn't bought it. I just haven't been excited by any of the games - or rather, not enough of them to justify having got one. In fact I'm so jaded with the current games industry that I've been playing a 15+ year old MMORPG on PC (for sticklers to detail, I mean Lord of the Rings Online).

I did get excited by Sony's first dip into VR, but got underwhelmed and bored pretty fast, and sold it on... bugger it, I'll get to the point so as not to bore the one or two people who'll read this. Have there been enough worthwhile Sony exclusives since the PS5 launch to make it a must-have? And does it make as much noise as the previous consoles? I'll worry about that before I consider going back to PSVR, which apparently is light years ahead of the first try, and does indeed appear to be the bollocks of the dog. But I can't ignore the roughly ยฃ1000 price tag of the console/VR combo. Cheers.

Related, but not PS5 :D. I jumped fairly early into the Windows MR and it is pretty impressive in things like FS2020. But, I've not spent enough time to get my sea legs, so can only stand about 20 minutes a time. And in the years I've had it, I've probably only used it about 10 times. On the plus side, the cheapy glasses I bought to use with it to save potential scratching of my "proper" glasses have ended up being my day to day wearers since Covid stopped my opticians visits.

The flight sim is the only thing I spent a lot of time with on the Series X, since it's on Game Pass (I could only find a console with a Game Pass bundle as I didn't pre-order). However there's only so many times you can fly past your house, and performance is often pretty choppy. Would like to have seen it in VR though, but wasn't aware that you could.

Happily I didn't experience any of the nausea some people do with the PSVR1. Even with that leapy-about sports arena game I can't recall the name of, where you're bouncing and looking all over the shop at all times, I felt fine.
