some people will think its hateful
You mean some people think the sketch is hateful ? Or the act of banning is hateful ?

The problem with clips like this, when taken out of context, is they can be weaponised against minorities. Same as the JΓΌrgen the German sketches by Harry Enfield - very funny at the time, embedded alongside Wayne & Waynetta et al, but as far as I remember, one sketch in particular has been scrubbed from the web now (we discussed this way back, on TDF).

If people think the HE sketches are bad, God knows what they'd have made of the Benny Hill 'Learning, learning, all the time' ones. I was uncomfortable with them even back when they were transmitted. I also thought the HE ones were a bit suspect.
On the other hand, the Faulty Towers material never seemed offensive, because it was always poking fun at people with outdated or xenophobic tendencies. Laughing at them, not with them.
Had to google ... well, it was 1982.
In a way, you could look at it as a warning to women of what manipulative men are prepared to say & do !
Tempest would love that !
I just googled for something, and an unrelated Dilbert cartoon popped up in the results. Clicking the thumbnail for a chuckle, all I got was a 404 - the (science) site had obviously taken down their whole page!
Then I remembered Scott Adams had been cancelled a few days ago for being a racist nob, but despite loads of newspapers cancelling his cartoon (I didn't realise he was still outputting) the anti-woke pro-Trump crowds will likely turn all his content into best sellers. No surprise that South African Mu5k is supporting him and his views.

I can still separate the man from his art, though ...

My daughter used to buy me a Dilbert desk calendar each year until about 5 years ago when I became aware of what a horrible misogynistic piece of work Adams is. I asked my daughter to get me something different. I also stopped looking at any of his cartoons at the same time.
