Lots of TV nostalgia in my socials feeds, probably due to the BBC Four/iPlayer re-showing the excellent Threads (1984) nuclear war drama set in Sheffield.
I'm pretty sure I would have watched it back in the day, but the screenshots don't jog any memories.
Written by the talented Barry Hines (1939-2016), who also wrote the superb Kes (1969) [directed by Ken Loach] that really resonated with me - both the book (in English Lit) and the film.

Memory unlocked ! 😁 Flippin''eck ... I used to really like this, but probably haven't thought about it again since ... 1972 !!
Here Come the Double Deckers! is a 17-part British children's television series originally broadcast in 1971 on BBC1, revolving around the adventures of seven children whose den was an old red double-decker London bus in a scrap yard.
And I think I can remember this from 1986 ... a star-studded TV Licence promo ...
By sheer coincidence I just watched Threads again this afternoon. Truly horrifying, and there's still a chance it'll happen.
I remember the Double Deckers every time I see Peter Firth in something - and I could have sung the theme tune even without the reminder video. 👍
