📋 Recommendations for easy going TV

Hello wise people!

It seems a lot of new programmes on TV are big budget and/or violent, which is fine for me, but my wife just doesn't seem to like them. We quite like watching easy going TV together, things like Chesapeake shores, Everwood, Brothers and Sisters, Revenge etc. Nothing complicated, easy going.

We've watched quite a few series together and are struggling to get into anything new. Any recommendations?

Cheers

Either the British or US (remake) of Ghosts would do. Nice entertaining TV comedy.

Hey, welcome aboard, @shanec ! ?

Same problem here, too. In the last few years, these are the shows we've enjoyed together (scrolling my IMDB ratings):

- all the 'Star Wars' TV spinoffs - well made, exciting.
- 'Grand Designs' - amazing that it's still compelling, 23 years and counting! (And 'Your Home Made Perfect' is good fun.)
- 'Ted Lasso' was v.popular on the old forums, although S1 was enough feel-good froth for us!
- all David Attenborough.
- 'The Crown' - we're no royalists, but this is top quality TV.
- excellent UK dramas: 'Sherlock', 'It's A Sin' (v.powerful), 'This Is Going To Hurt' (intense), 'Unforgotten' (historic crimes, not gory/tense. Well acted & scripted).
- excellent US dramas: 'The Morning Show', 'The White Lotus' (superb), 'Big Little Lies' (superb), 'The Queen's Gambit', 'Anne With An E', 'House Of Cards', 'The Newsroom' (takes a while to get into).
- period dramas - 'Downton', 'Gentleman Jack', 'North & South', 'Vanity Fair', 'Bridgerton', 'Medici', 'The Cook of Castamar' [SPA]. ('Sanditon' is only just OK).
- STARZ period drama series > 'The White Queen' > 'The White Princess' > 'The Spanish Princess' > 'Becoming Elizabeth'.

or Around the World in the Eighty Days on iPlayer.

If you can get through the first episode it is fine after that.  In fact my wife started at ep2 and didn't understand what I had been complaining about!
