We thought we knew how Voyager 1 would end. The instruments would shut off, one by one. The signal would get fainter. Eventually either the last instrument would fail for lack of power, or the signal would be lost.
Have they tried turning it off and on again?
More seriously, I’m stunned that it kept working to the extent I’d did once they turned the heater off.
I've seen the film. V'ger will be back.
hehe ... yeah, I saw that too ... interesting 🤓
I had no idea about Kate being 'missing' until the photo story blew up, and then I was only interested from a photog point of view.
I was thinking that the edited image had been created by a fancy smartphone app, that chooses the best smiles and faces from a burst of shots. But now I think there's more to it.
Latest theory seems to be that Kate has a serious health issue, maybe complications from an eating disorder, or maybe something like a colostomy or stoma.
An ileostomy redirects part of the small intestine to a stoma, while a colostomy redirects the large intestine (colon) to this abdominal opening.
With both, the digestive waste will move through the stoma instead of passing out through the anus.
Anyway, despite the clickbaity title and image, this is a well-written article (9k words!) expecially the timeline.

Multi-tweet thread about an almost forgotten language
4k word book review followed by podcast discussion (with parallels to Trump).
7k words, bcos ... men.
Very well written account (especially vivid atmosphere, as I've just watched True detective S6).
