I'm not sure I'd say the bits you were born with, just the bits you have now. I don't think any of us are arguing that a fully transitioned person should still have to use their birth gendered toilets. The issue is more about the potential abuse a free reign gender self identity offers - it's not saying that the trans community are not to be trusted, more that the system is open to abuse from non-trans people (see the recent high profile cases where sexual offenders have decided to change gender once they're in custody).

@jez - you've already posted an impressive list of links - don't turn this thread into a catalogue of outrage, listing every person who tries to use trans issues as a smokescreen.

In this particular case, the guy disguised himself as (male) rail staff, and the term "identified as female" was used by the headline writer to generate clicks and outrage. This guy was not able to get a lighter sentence by falsely identifying as anything, so that's good. And this is not a trans issue at all.

As said elsewhere, we could start another thread listing the crimes committed by blonde-haired people, or by people from Manchester - when we go out looking for stuff then of course we will find it.

As a society, we need to make public toilets safer for everyone - cameras, full height doors, turnstyles, paying fulltime cleaners a decent wage, etc. And we shouldn't hide toilets away down long corridors or bury them underground. Make our cities safer!

EDIT

See how most of the news reports used "identified as female" in their twisted headlines, when the original police press release was: Dangerous offender jailed after sexually assaulting woman in ladies toilets - Birmingham

Jez proceeds to obsessively post anecdotal evidence to prove to themselves and others that trans-people are evil.

I'm sorry, is this you?

His name is Michael Hughes and he is trans. I ask again: Which public toilet should he use?

As soon as you go back and answer at least half of mine. That seems fair. Let me know if you want me to re-post them.

I think this statement is pretty clear:

Sure, just like welfare systems are sometimes abused by people. That doesn't mean we shut them down.

And since this is the gender thread, here's the Right's favourite intellectual being completety broke-brained:

Yes, there's absolutely no cult of angry conservative bigots like you who follow rancid websites specifically to feel outraged all the time.

What the hell does this even mean? Are you implying that I constantly edit them? There was one I had to edit because I f***ed up the formatting, but you can just go back and read them.

Most of these questions you have not asked me before. But I know it can be hard for the conservative outrage machine to keep track of these things.

It is very low. Almost certainly less than .5%. But having the usual XX/XY chromosomes doesn't mean that people will look like what bigots like you would consider male or female. For example:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XX_male_syndrome

This will typically result in a person that you would probably consider a man. Whether he would also be a Real Conservative Alpha-Man like you is another matter.

And:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgen_insensitivity_syndrome

This will sometimes result in a person that to all appearances is a "woman". But, again, whether it is a Real Woman is not for me to decide.

Nice leading. But it isn't.

I don't think there is such a thing. I don't care what people identify as.

Their sex is different. Their gender can be as much the same - but see my previous answer.

Yes. But worse than that, she's a terrible writer.

It's not what you said, it's what I can only infer when you constantly post links to a site whose whole purpose of existence is the vilification of trans people.

I think we should design policies around behaviour.

Well, that's progress.

Just... beautiful. Well done.

Yes, reading is hard.

I agree with everything you said except that I don't think she is a terrible writer.

Of course jezzer’s angry.

His infantile, obsessive, posting makes that abundantly clear.

That article does state:

"When interviewed in custody, Bullock tried to claim the reason he was in the toilets was he now identified as female."

Sure, and that was my very point - the tacky headlines run with the inflammatory clickbait of a tiny (irrelevant) detail.

Oh spare me the "I'm not angry" schtick. You're obsessively posting links to a site that exists solely to villify trans people. Why don't you do the same for non-white people, or Muslims or Jews or Irish people? Or perhaps cops?

"A person who is obstinately or unreasonably attached to a belief, opinion, or faction, especially one who is prejudiced against or antagonistic towards a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group."

Do you have some more links to Reduxx you'd like to share?

I have no idea how he defines a woman. For that matter, I have no idea how you do that. I assume it has to do with ovaries and boobs. Did you ask me to define a "real woman" because you don't what that means?

Are you sure you aren't an attack helicopter?

I care about the safety of people. Until you provide evidence that public toilets present more of a danger than other places, I see no reason to think that they do.

Also, it's pretty rich coming from a person that belongs to a political group that has traditionally not given a hoot about the safety, sensibilities, or opportunities of anyone except (usually rich) white Christian men for centuries. Sure, sure, had you been born 100 years earlier, you would have been out there in the streets fighting for women's rights, or (later) civil rights and gay rights. I know.

Can you please admit that you don't know the first thing about chromosomes?
