Now Hunt confirmed as chancellor. Someone a bit more level-headed in Government at last.

I was hoping that now we are rid of a Kwasi Kwarteng, we could have a real one.

What are people here's thoughts about whether Liz can weather this storm? Will she get a bit of breathing space while Jeremy settles in and announces the new fiscal plan at the end of the month or will she be gone by then?

I think she will survive a while as long as no new problems for her to deal with arise. Given her performance to date though, I think off anything vaguely difficult to deal with happens she will fail again and be gone.

I'm not convinced she'll make Christmas. Seems Hunt is already in charge, so as C4 news said earlier, "What is the point of Liz Truss"? He's pretty much reversing many of her policies by all accounts.

A couple more PMQs will finish her off IMO.

Wow! Just in the last few days there's been a real shift in the right-wing press and some Tory MPs speaking out ...

Look at these from both The Times and The Telegraph!

Mobiot's voice is now more important than ever ...

As a founder member of the anti-growth coalition, I’m delighted to discover how fast it has, ahem, been growing. From small beginnings on the political margins, our grouping, according to the prime minister, now ranges across most political parties, the trade unions, remainers, media pundits, in fact just about everyone in the UK who isn’t a swivel-eyed neoliberal headbanger.

Times journos are humans too ! Heartwarming displays of empathy (from a Tory benefits claimant?) ...

This is how it started > I’m a middle-class benefit claimant and I’m terrified

This is how it's going > I've been encouraged to write more 1/?
