My Dad said yesterday that if they vote BoJo back in as leader, he might not vote Conservative at the next election. Might not FFS...
Despite my massively pessimistic post up there, I'm beginning to think/hope he might not get the nominations. Mordaunt has refused to step aside by all accounts, there must be a chance he won't get the numbers?
No one seems to know definitely if he does have them, and as it's team BJ my default assumption is they were lying when they said they did (to try and stop Sunak joining the race presumably).
And of course if he doesn't, I'm sure we'll all be told he never intended to anyway.
Hopefully I've not just jinxed it...
On the basis of what the pundits are saying, I told my gf that I thought it was possible that bojob might be the next PM. She said that wouldn’t happen. Now I’ve bet her £10 that he’ll get it. So either a ten quid consolation, or the best ten pounds I’ve ever lost.
Phew
The parallels are amazing ... Bojo really is our very own supermarket-brand Trump - it's all about him, and the theatrics (and the holidays!)
And yes, it's likely he didn't have the 100 backers, so it's good that Mordaunt stood her ground else he could have hoovered up some her backers, and then likely would have won against Sunak.
Now, hopefully Mordaunt won't reach 100, so Sunak is straight in. Or he offers her the pick of the posts, and she steps down.
And due to the global media coverage, the BoJo brand has likely doubled in value this weekend.
EDIT
I wonder what all the "take back control" voters will think about having a " not properly English " brown-skinned PM ?
More evidence the tide is finally turning ...
The Times - Next prime minister must confront the truth about Brexit - Whoever wins has to admit how leaving the EU has affected our economy and poisoned politics — and take steps to address it
For any party that genuinely cares about the national interest, one issue matters long term more than any other. It is the elephant rampaging around the room, the box that politicians dare not open: the fact that Brexit is far from “done” in a way that works for our country.
Our current chaos has roots that run seven years deep. The arrogant “don’t ask the experts” approach of the mini-budget: Brexit. The elevation of politicians whose central talent is to bluster and boast: Brexit. The idea that you can replace a coherent plan with slogans: Brexit.
And of course, a significant portion of our economic malaise comes down to Brexit. Yes, Covid and the conflict in Ukraine have played their part. But the fact is that in 2016 the British economy was 90 per cent the size of Germany’s, and now it is less than 70 per cent. The fact is that, since Brexit, business investment has been growing in all other G7 countries but not in the United Kingdom. Facts, not “remoaner” fear-mongering.

For a centre-left person you do seem very pro the very right wing Tory party and very anti the much more centric/ left Labour party.
It's continued chaos whoever wins as far as I can see. Assuming it's Sunak, the Tory members won't be at all happy as they didn't want him a few weeks ago (and yes, I agree a lot of the reasons there are race, along with him bringing down their 'hero').
Conversely, if Mordaunt somehow does make the nominations, and it did go to the members I wouldn't be at all surprised if she won. (Admittedly that's looking very doubtful). But then she's in the unenviable position of not being wanted by Government, and they'll get rid of her one way or another.
So they'll continue to bitch and moan up until whenever we get an election.
Love you Lizzy
Suella Braverman re-appointed? Really?
