The person on 100k has had the 1% tax cut on the tax they pay up until the 40% bracket. The abolished 45% bracket came into effect at Β£150k. The reason I don't take issue with the 1% applying to all is exactly that; it applies to all. I really think (hope) you're just playing hard of thinking now to get a rise out of people.
What a disastrous set of fiscal announcements. I can't believe how Kwasi, Liz and others involved in last week's decisions thought they would be a good idea.
Thankfully my daughter's first mortgage was formally approved on Monday, a couple of days later and I suspect she would have had to reapply and get a much worse interest rate.
This is an excellent 30 minutes discussing the current situation and how we got here.

Come on guys, please be nice in here - it's a POLITICS PLAYGROUND.
Let's limit our criticisms to the people in power, rather than having ad hominem attacks between forumites.
At least back in 2019, we were spared Corbyn chaos !
Truss's local radio interviews were painful they may have asked her - what her favourite colour was; as most answers had no relationship to the question and very tenuous to the facts.

I wonder if it's a super plot to bring back that last much more successful fella' e.g. after a few weeks of this Boris looks competent!
The situation regarding the number of nurses leaving the NHS is a real source of concern.Β
BBC News - Record number of nurses quitting the NHS

My daughter is a nurse ward manager and her ward has 40% fewer nurses than they should have. They simply cannot find nurses to fill the vacancies. Impact is poorer outcomes for patients, higher stress levels for nurses and more nurses leaving.
Sure, but my point was that the right-wing press were predicting a plunge (if Corbyn won), but barely mention it now that it's actually happened under the Tories!
The pound bounced back somewhat after the Brexit vote, so it was certain to bounce back after this, although there's a permanent downward trajectory ever since Brexit.
And don't forget that the main reason for this uptick is the mere Β£65b Bank Of England bailout.
Even this past year is nothing to be proud of >
