I don't pretend to understand this, but we're not out of the woods yet ... sounds like if Truss & Kwarteng don't u-turn and sort this out pretty sharpish, the ? could well hit the fan.Β

Well, based on that George Monbiot bit, should we expect the NHS to be privatised? They've already paved the way by allowing it to be part of a trade deal:

It's not just fear-mongering that a significant percentage would be happy with a privatised NHS, especially the current crowd. Decrease funding so much that the public themselves start shouting for change.

Personally though, I do think there should be some means-tested token charges to improve the services - ambulance, hospital meals, missed appointment fine, etc. After all, prescriptions are paid for, so why should other things be free ? Also, there should be more pharmacies and nurses able to diagnose and prescribe.

And there should be much more investment in prevention - tax on unhealthy foods and far better nutrition training for all front line staff. Remove sweets/snacks from petrol stations, supermarket queues, etc - be a lot tougher as clearly the retailers only chase profits.

https://www.politico.eu/europe-poll-of-polls/united-kingdom/ now showing a Labour lead of 25% over the tories.

Obviously this will change a few times before the next GE. What's interesting is that it is the largest gap between Labour and the tories since they started collecting data, 7 years ago.

For someone who says he wants to vote Labour, you've got a lot of Tory Blue opinions! ?

If there's one good thing that might come out of this whole disaster, the REJOIN THE EU campaign is getting a massive boost! ?

As a Remainer, it wouldn't surprise me if Truss woke up one day and suddenly announced we were going to rejoin !

All those anti-growth Brexiteers, tsk tsk ... someone has to make the tough decisions ...

Nicola Sturgeon: "It took the Tories three long years to realise that Boris Johnson was a disaster. With Liz Truss, it took them just three weeks." ?

Good grief, it's Terry Christian ... remember him ?? He nails it !

I have a feeling that the majority of tory MP's already knew that for quite some before bojob left.

A couple of weeks ago the odds on Truss making it to 2023 as PM were 10-1. The next day they were 9-1 so I put a sneaky tenner on....2 days later it was down to 4-1! They've wavered a bit since but currently at 9-2, and I suspect they might shorten a bit yet πŸ˜€

The best bit is I put a fiver on her to become PM at 9-1 before the leadership contest kicked off in earnest. It's not quite offsetting the cost of living rises, but it all helps!

Yes, we've covered this already -

DE was badly hit due to their (over-) reliance on Russian gas ? ... there's a war on!

UK was badly hit due to government incompetence. ?

Next.

More 'mini-budget' u-turns coming? I'm not sure how long the 2 top jobs can keep any credibility whatsoever. And if he goes, surely she will follow fairly sharpish.
