I need to get a short break in Paris booked for myself and my girlfriend for later in the year.

Can anyone recommend any nice hotels, areas to stay etc? Also is it best to book in advance for The Louvre and Eiffel Towel etc. is there such a thing as skip the line or fast passes?

As always, thanks in advance!

Just back from Paris. Many good places to stay. Probably best to read the reviews on Tripadvisor/Booking.com/Hotels.com, as that way you can find comments most relevant to things you find important.

Definitely worth getting advance tickets for the Louvre, and very easy to do online. Remember that it is vast and you may need more than one day, depending on how much of it you want to see.

I'm not sure about tickets to the tower as I've never bothered to go up. If the tickets are available on line it's probably worth getting them in advance.

That’s great, thanks very much.mi had no idea The Louvre was so vast. Did you pre book? I’ll start searching through all the reviews!

We went to Paris years ago for 10 nights - stayed in a small B&B on the Boulevard Saint-Michel, near the Sorbonne (Latin Quarter), right opposite a Metro stop (handy) and close to the Jardin du Luxemberg (nice).

Yes, I think the best thing about the tower is to see it from ground level, at various distances, although I suppose if you've never been up, then it's a todo.

Agree about the Louvre - vast, and once you get over the amazing architecture (old and new) the contents are pretty much the same (to me) as you'd find in London (except the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo).

Best thing is to wander about and soak up the atmosphere - along the Seine and les Îles, and Metro up to Montmartre/Sacré-Cœur.

We found the Arabic museum interesting, as was Rodin's Garden (Jardin du Musée Rodin) ... both with great cafés!

Absolutely. As I said, it's very easy on-line. It also alerts you to it's closed day. (A lot of continental museums and art galleries are shut for one day a week [Usually Monday or Tuesday]).

When I lived in Paris for work we had aprt-hotels - which were great for flexibility - small kitchen and fridge etc - if you are going soon check the weather as wind stops lifts to top of tower. The modern art is also good - shopping can be fun and painfully expensive - the river cruises allow you to see lots from different view.

Thanks all. I did see the River Cruises so that’s one to book with The Louvre!
