Had been with John Lewis for my car insurance for a few years and had no problems (well, nothing to claim) until this year's schedule where the price had suddenly gone up by over £100 (£246 to £358). Had 13 years of [protected] no claims and it's still gone up.
Checked a few of the money pages of several sites I follow and it's the same with practically everyone across the board.
So, went onto confused.com for the first time and input all the same things I had with JL and ended up with, of all things, Saga for less than last year's cover.
At age 58 I have finally been caught by Saga.
Our House insurance was the same the new quote was something like £470 but the renewal also said last year was £220 - so oddly looking elsewhere and can get house insurance for a lot less.
Car insurance was reported here https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/jul/22/uk-drivers-car-insurance-costs-price-petrol-diesel
I did a quote for my 19 year old daughter on her Mazda 2, with 1 years no claims and keeping her telematics, they want nearly £1300 a year. That's about £200 more than last year when she had 0 no claims.
My daughter went to renew her car insurance recently and the price had increased by over £200. Her insurers told her it was because of the covid pandemic where they had so many claims?????
So any tips of getting the renewals down?
Is it still a case of using the comparison sites, as per MSE ?
Yeah, I used Confused.com and that got a better deal (actually many better deals) than John Lewis Insurance who I've been with for years.
I used go compare, they offer £250 excess cover as well. With one of the cash back sites you can probably get a few quid more off.

I think the main cash back sites don't have [car] insurance companies on them anymore.
Mrs F rang to cancel hers after getting a much cheaper quote and her existing insurer dropped to match it.
Mine and the mrs' is due in the next week, and both of us are coming out cheaper using the black box insurances. My existing insurer wants £100 more, even as a new business quote.
