The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will begin with a two-episode premiere at the start of September, followed by a new episode every week (at the same time around the world) up until October 14. This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness. Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth. Returns 29 August ... let's hope there's a bit more action in this season, cos when it got things right, it really did hit the spot.

I realised before watching the new trailer that I hadn't eagerly been awaiting season 2. After watching it I don't think I'll bother; I didn't see anything that makes me want to. Cliched, cookie-cutter cgi fantasy of what Amazon thinks Tolkien should look like. And I'm not impressed with the cast. Pass.
