I think the point that Jez is badly trying to make is that making it easier for a trans person to identify as the opposite sex also makes it easier for a predatory person to also do the same. If, as has been said multiple times in this thread, that trans people have been living amongst us with no issues for millennia (with live and let live working for the most part on all sides), why the (aggressive) push now to make a man in a dress equal in every way to a woman? Nobody is pushing for a trans man to be able to be treated the same as a cis man, not that I've seen anyway. I've even seen calls for trans women to be able to access the same medical care as a cis woman which I think shows the level of stupidity at play here (a smear test is not going to go well, but if you really want to try it...). If you could retire earlier, I could understand the benefit...
I don’t believe that jez understands what ‘niche’ means, although he keeps using the word.
Just to be clear, it means a small area, NOT, an unimportant one.
If he could moderate his hysterical, near incoherent, ranting, progress might be made. As it is it’s as if he’s trying to start an argument in an empty room.
hehe ... you've got a good memory!
Not bad, and it gets a lot of love in the comments. A bit too much Oz-based content for me, and some of his generalisations are a bit simplistic, but of course I disagree with all sorts of violence. But I don't think the extremist viewpoints on twitter, used in this monologue, should get publicity and amplification, as that is what they are after.
(Only minor, but afaik this transwoman's online identity is falsely being used by a troll to spread hatred and create division.)
Problem is, I don't know enough about KJK/PP or her events, so then I watched this JHB interview - KJK/PP certainly seems nice enough, and I don't understand the hatred she attracts. Certainly, I would never attend such an anti-PP rally.

Just stumbled across this - in attempts to amplify her message, PP seems to have aligned herself with at least one "white nationalist" a few years ago. I wonder what she thinks of this now?
It could genuinely be that she was naive at the time - "Had I known that this individual held white supremacy in such esteem I would have challenged him directly or chosen not to appear. These days so many people are called Nazis and far right that the prophetic warning that we will no longer recognise the real ones is beginning to come true."

The definition seems to be - if you want to stop trans women using female toilets, then you are anti-trans. Personally, I agree with that, as trans women have been using female toilets for decades, and I would not want that to change all of a sudden.
I think that is the simple crux of it, and the main point on which you and I differ. As I've said before, I understand your fears, and I'm not throwing women under a bus (including my mum and my wife) - we should push for safer spaces for all, to reduce the terrible abuse by cis-men that's been going on for decades.
The anti-trans voices push photos of (and mock) the loud Brian-in a-dress types. But many of us may have already shared spaces alongside trans people without even noticing. We only see the memes and hear about the bad actors, but we don't see the transwomen walking amongst us getting on with living - this reinforces the bias against transwomen.
As we've discussed, a man doesn't need to put on a dress to abuse women - he simply wears a high vis jackets and walks into the Ladies. I honestly don't see this as a 'floodgate' for abusive men. If anything, with trans issues at a much higher profile, many women are on high alert for this now (hence the possible over-compensation of butch lesbians being harrassed in the Ladies).
So we need to increase funding for the NHS and mental health support services, and pay Nurses and Junior Doctors a decent wage, to help young people with autism and body dysphoria to navigate their way.
A large number of autistic women and girls report experiences of sexual assault ... coercive, physical or sexual abuse.
"I was a very confused, mixed-up little teenager not really knowing where I fitted in" ... exhibiting communication issues, people-pleasing and 'masking' behaviours, and with a lack of education about sex and consent.
More than 125,000 people are currently waiting for an NHS autism diagnosis ... long waits can be traumatic and mean struggling without any support.

making it easier for a trans person to identify as the opposite sex also makes it easier for a predatory person to also do the same ... why the (aggressive) push now to make a man in a dress equal in every way to a woman?
it's simplification of gender self ID (and then allowing self ID'd people into female-only spaces) creating another attack vector for women. ... allowing anyone one who decides to be a woman for the day into those safe spaces does nothing to make women any safer.
Again, why should Brian go to all the trouble of dressing up as a woman, and bringing all that attention to himself as he walks down the street and heads into the nearest Ladies, when all he has to do (as we've seen) is wear a high vis jacket and no one will bat an eye? It is not creating another attack vector against women - there are so many other routes actively being exploited (coercive control and intimate partner violence being the single largest VAWG issue).
I agree that a tiny TRA minority of the small trans minority have the loudest voices and attract attention, and the hate (and violence) is obviously to be condemned.
From the other side, the TERF 'safe space' arguments are being amplified and weaponised by loud right-wingers who are happy for women and LGBTQ alike to have fewer human rights.
There's nothing sudden - trans women have always been here. This newly increased momentum can be used to get the government and councils to make safer spaces for all.
@driver8 I don't know why you keep trivialising it back to toilets. What about other female only places? Changing rooms, women's prisons, hospital wards. Anywhere where a women is undressed. The perv doesn't have to attack them, (s)he can go into those places just get off by looking at them.
trivialising it back to toilets.
It's not trivialising, it's shorthand so I don't need to write your list every time. Toilets are the most frequented, plus changing rooms in clothes shops.
We've already seen that an abusive man can simply be "waiting for my girlfriend" to get easy access to the shop changing rooms.
Changing rooms in pools/gyms - Many pools and water parks have had mixed sex spaces for decades, but admittedly we need to make them safer for all. We need more investment, not stripped down austerity services - better design, attendants, cctv.
Women's prisons - we've already covered. Go with the genitals, and provide additional safe spaces for trans prisoners.
Hospital wards (and women's shelters) - admittedly, these are more challenging, and I don't know enough about the logistics on how to make these safe spaces for all. I suppose we need more care staff and smaller rooms/wards, as some hospitals I've visited do feel somewhat cavernous and impersonal. So major investment in the NHS. Sadly, the rich decision-makers simply go private, so it's us plebs left with bare bones services.

Interesting story of Aussie, Georgie Stone.
I'd not previously heard of her, but apparently she was on Neighbours for a while.
Personally, I cannot agree with anyone who insists that she must use the Gents.
Strawman. Safe spaces are of course needed, but they should be made safer for everyone. 'Allowing' Georgie Stone to continue to use these female safe spaces, in the same way that trans women have been using them for decades, does not make them any less safe.
Trans women want to feel like they belong. No one is trumping anyone's feelings. Georgie Stone wants to continue to use the Ladies, like decades of trans women before her.
